Personal Goals and Statement
Becoming a Practical Nurse has always been my goal and ambition. This is borne out of my passion for caring for other people, especially the sick and the vulnerable. I believe that taking care of the health of people and, bringing relief to their pains in their hours of need is the best way to impact humanity. This is the reason why I want to become a Practical Nurse. My physical and emotional strength, my superior ability to multitask and my natural kindness which I have demonstrated in my previous roles as a caregiver for children and as a health care aide have solidly prepared me for a career in nursing

Personal Philosophy of Practical Nurse
I believe that a high-quality health care system requires the services of practical nurses who work directly with patients, administering medication and implementing patient care. Given the fact that it takes longer time to train and graduate registered nurses, I am of the strong opinion that it is vitally important to have practical nurses so that the system can continue to function effectively. The direct patient care that practical nurses provide also ensures that patient care which is the sole reason for the existence of the health care system, does not suffer while the registered nurses spend time on administrative issues. I believe that nursing is a service to the public and that nurses must act with integrity, compassion and conduct themselves with the highest ethical standards. Nursing must also be knowledge-based and emphasize continuous training and professional development.

Standard of Practice
Accountability and responsibility are very important in the nursing profession. I believe that practical nurses must be accountable to the system and their patients. They must take responsibility for their actions and have the interest of their patients at heart. Practical nurses must hold themselves to the highest standard of ethical conduct and demonstrate compassion while dealing with patients. It is important that practical nursing is knowledge-based which requires practical nurses to have the right education and skills needed to discharge their duties. Continuous education, professional development and strong public service orientation must be emphasized in practical nursing

Value Statement
My personal values include honesty and compassion for others. Being honest means telling the truth at all times even when it is not convenient to do so. Having compassion for others requires me to help the sick, vulnerable and less privileged and to offer myself to the services of others and my community. My professional values include being accountable and conforming to the highest ethical standards required of me. These two complementary sets of values align with my philosophy of nursing of because I believe nurses must be compassionate, caring, accountable and act ethically.
